My Equipment

I get so, so many questions about the gear/equipment I use while photographing seniors and weddings, so today I am answering some of those questions!! If you’re not a professional photographer, this may seem like nonsense to you 🙂

For Seniors:

  • My go-to lens is my Canon 50mm 1.4! This lens is so versatile, and creates beautiful & crisp images that I just love!!
  • My absolute favorite lens is my Sigma 85mm 1.4! While I love my 50mm dearly, the bokeh and quality of this 85mm is to die for! SOOOO many heart eyes for this lens!

For Weddings:

Each wedding day is a little different and allows for different lighting and lens focal lengths. 99% of the time, I use my 35mm 1.4 for the “getting ready” portion of the day. During this time, we are usually in a tighter space, so a wider angle lens is the best option. I am often asked why I use the 35mm instead of the 24-70mm 2.8. I love a good zoom lens, but the 35mm is wonderful in low light!!

So, here’s my general wedding day list!

-“Getting ready”: I typically use my 35mm 1.4

-Ceremony: I shoot on both of my Canon 5d Mark iv bodies, one with the 85mm 1.4 and one with a 35mm 1.4 (for the stunning, wide ceremony shots)

-Bride & Groom Portraits: My 85mm 1.4 is my JAM. It creates the prettiest portraits <3

-Bridal Party: Depending on the size of the bridal party, I’ll use my 50mm 1.4 or my 85mm 1.4. (If the bridal party is small, I’ll just my 85. If it’s a bigger bridal party, I’ll use my 50.

-Family Formals: You’ll always see me using my 35mm for family formals 🙂

-Reception: Again, I’ll be shooting on 2 camera bodies and using my 85 for close up shots and my 35 for wide ceremony shots and party shots 🙂

I hope this was helpful, friends!!
